So this is less of a fictional story more of a true story me and my friend [who's name does not concern you] using the remote control technique. (look at my forums post about it) In F104Deathtrap's Douglas SBD Dauntless up against QingyuZhou's Japanese A6M Zero, we were dogfighting. I was piloting this the plane and he was my gunner eventually we hit its wing and damaged it to the point where it was on fire but it soon died out. He was hot on our tail he had taken a clear shot at our engine but that didn't stop us, after our prop gave away
we decided to land after that the zero still circled us constantly climbing and then diving I was hit and one of our ailerons wasn't functioning right so I told my friend to shoot at the zero with the rear gunner position (which by the way isn't easy to use) but he managed to land at least 6 hits and caught the zero's engine on fire and knock an aileron out of place which lead the Zero spiraling down to the ground.
