I totally agree. He didn’t go outside overnight until a year old. But at some point when Ponch and Dusty were outside they were unsupervised and had some sort of disagreement and Dusty was never seen again. @StellarLabs
@Awsomur I don’t disagree with you but I don’t think it’s safe for a 9 week old kitten to go about a coyote infested neighborhood. Luna came from a free litter from a friend. Luna is already too curious.
My 10-yr old male cat named Poncho. He lives outside but comes indoors usually everyday. He’s never had any health complications besides his right ear, which was disfigured in a territorial fight with an aggressive cat. The ear injury isn’t really visible in the image though.
.
I’ve had him since he was a kitten. He was part of a litter being given away for free (free kittens FTW). He had a grey-colored brother named Dusty, but when they were around 3-months old Poncho chased Dusty off. Dusty left before he was neutered, so I like to think he’s happily living in someone’s house with a “wife” and kittens.
.
Since he’s healthy, and has a reasonable weight I’m hoping he’ll live to be at least 15. A healthy cat’s expectancy is about 16, but I figure his outdoor fighting with other cats will wear him down quicker.
.
In case you disagree with the philosophy of letting a cat live outdoors:
.
1. It’s better for them to be able to roam around and live in their natural environment.
.
2. He gets food, flea treatments, vaccinations and everything else an indoor cat does,
.
3. These cat fights aren’t dangerous for either cat. It’s more like a barfight than a ninja battle. (Also, he’s smart enough to run away from the bad dog that occasionally gets out in our ‘hood)
As do I. :)
@Stellarlabs
@Awsomur I hope Dusty found his way to the old cat lady

@Awsomur also domestic means household and this cat is domestic.
