Basically an airfoil gets more lift when it’s close to the ground. You could make ground effect vehicles to!
Coriolis effect would be cool as well but it’s a bit advanced for any video game/flight sim

This is a fine understanding of it. More correctly it involves giving the air pushed down by the wing something to compress against leading to higher pressure beneath the wing as well as lower drag @TheCrusader318
My understanding of it it's like a cushion of air along a surface where the air is denser, ground effect vehicles sit on this when moving at optimal speeds causing them to ride this cushion in a way. This may be completely wrong however, I don't know enough to be sure
