"All hands to battle stations. Set condition one throughout the ship."
The captain blares through the comms as we exit our jump, revealing to us the view of the planet below, and the unsightly Tor warships that stood between us and Plenare. The ground combat was at full-scale; the surface explosions were all visible to us, and it looks like the enemy ships are preparing to provide fire support to their ground forces.
"All launch bays prepare for combat launch procedure. All fighters and bombers standby for launch."
I am currently assigned as Weapons Officer aboard the Scimitar, a Cerberus Class destroyer. The ship I'm on is designed for close to mid-range combat, which we are about to do as we get into firing range.
"The enemy ships are breaking off captain! The kingship has launched dropships and is bearing down on us!"
The Tors' kingship was the largest ship that they had. At over 18km long, it was bristling with weapons that could both destroy our fleet and wipe Plenare's surface clean. It was also our primary target, as destroying it would kill their fleet admiral and end this war once and for all.
"Torpedoes are locked and loaded. We have a clean shot captain!", I said as I armed the fusion torpedoes. Our captain then broadcasted a fleetwide order.
"All ships, target the kingship's escorts! Fire at will!"
The first 3 escort cruiser went down in one shot from our artillery cruiser sitting a few thousand miles away from the combat zone, while our destroyer, along with 3 others and our carrier and two dreadnoughts engaged the remaining forces. I aimed the heavy plasma batteries and rail rocket batteries at a nearby cruiser, dealing substantial damage as our destroyer closed in on it
@Ephwurd r.i.p
@ErvenDynamics lol ripperoni
@ErvenDynamics nais
@Ephwurd RIP
@PyrusEnderhunter I literally made the entire plot in minutes
@Stellarlabs not yet, sadly
@Ephwurd yea, has that person whoever her name was started the second book yet? I loved it.
@Stellarlabs ahh I see you've read Ardent too ;)
Isn't Plenare a planet from a sci-fi book that tried to swallow the entire solar system and somehow went faster than the speed of light.
@Ephwurd not bad. Needs more organization. Make the moment last longer.
