Worst to First: Star Wars (Off-Topic)

40.2k Awsomur  6.7 years ago

A wild off-topic forum appeared!

Today, I’ll be sharing my irrelevant opinion about the 8 main Star Wars films, the spin-off and all of the other miscellaneous productions.

Rating system:

1-5 scale, 1 being the worst and 5 being the best.

10: Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008)

The Clone Wars TV show is almost universally loved among Star Wars fans and is respected among critics. The Clone Wars movie however, was a steaming pile of Bantha sh*t. In a time when Star Wars was unpopular in the first place, this disastrous mess didn’t help at all.

1/5

9: Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)

One thing I’ll give this movie: the action sequences were well made, especially the Battle of Geonosis (purple lightsaber FTW). But Anakin and Padmé’s “romance” was terribly done. And to think: the entire original Star Wars trilogy happened because an angsty teen couldn’t control his crush on a Senator.

1/5

8: Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)

Ok, the whole reason I’m putting this movie down here at #8 is because of Jar-Jar Binks. Jar-Jar could’ve been a likable character if he didn’t cause so many unnecessary poop gags. Heck, Boss Nass is a better character than him! But Darth Maul, Qui-Gon Jinn and young Obi-Wan were absolutely amazing in this movie. I can’t wait for the Obi-Wan Standalone movie. I hope it has Qui-Gon in there somewhere.

2/5

7: Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

This movie is the best of the prequels. Palpatine’s slow manipulation of Anakin was amazingly well-executed, the Great Jedi purge was actually kind of saddening, the opening battle is absolutely stunning. Again, there’s a lot of awkward romance in this one, but it’s so damn good compared to the other two.

3/5

6: #Star Wars: Rogue One (2016)

This movie is only at #6 because of how good the following films are. The Battle of Scarif is the best space/ground battle in Star Wars history, Jyn and Galen Erso are interesting, strong and moving characters, K-2SO is a welcome relief from all of the cute and polite droids of Star Wars, and the portrayal of the Empire is spectacular. The CGI version of Peter Cushing (Grand Moff Tarkin) and the recasting of Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia Organa) was criticized, but I think that it was really well done under the circumstances. Plus, Peter Cushing’s surviving family got a ton of money for letting Disney use his likeness.

4/5

5: Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977)

I know, I know: how dare you put this movie so low? It’s only because of how dated the movie looks, and how bad the “Specialized” Edition is. But this movie took the world by storm and became a pop-culture phenomenon. The story is unparalleled, the acting is great, and the fact that it gave birth to thousands of other productions like movies, shows and novels is really amazing.

4/5

4: Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)

All the hate that this movie has received from salty, stuck-up nerds can not tarnish the directorial masterpiece that is this movie. It is a fitting successor the 2015’s The Force Awakens, and an amazing continuation of the Star Wars saga.

4/5

3: Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)

Remember how I said that in the late 2000’s/2010’s were a terrible time for Star Wars? Well The Force Awakens took a junked-up franchise and turned it around, giving it the same amount of, if not more of the excitement that came with A New Hope.

5/5

2: Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

You expected this to be #1 didn’t you? Well I’m not a stereo typical reviewer that puts this movie at #1. Instead, I’m a sensible man who puts it at #2 in fear of nerd-backlash. Anyways, this film capitalized on A New Hope’s success and succeeded tremendously. It’s amazing. Enough said.

5/5

1: Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983)

You may be asking: why Episode VI? Well, it was the original conclusion of the Star Wars trilogy, and it excelled in that role. Luke Skywalker’s Jedi attitude shows just how much the farmboy from Tatooine has matured ever since his adventures in space. The Emperor’s death, Darth Vader’s emotional death and redemtion, the pivotal Battle of Endor (Ewoks FTW), and most of all Carrie Fisher’s slave bikini- erm... the action sequences... yeah, the action sequences...

5/5

@Awsomur the mainline Star Wars movies don't have the same grittiness as the spinoffs do, and yeah I hope so

I actually prefer the Star Wars films that don't include Jedi or lightsabers. It just feels better overall. Rogue One was great, maybe Solo will be even better

    Oh, and one more thing:
Since Star Wars Battlefront II’s single-player story is canon, we know that Palpatine did indeed die at Endor because he engineered the destruction of the Empire in case he were to die. Would he have rather had the contengecy reveal the location of his clone(s)?
    .
Phew, I’m worn out from all of this crazy nerd-talk. It was fun though!

BUT! If Snoke were Plagueis then he’d no doubt have that cloning-spirit thing mastered so he could’ve survived Palpatine killing him AND the whole severing/ship exploding thing. (That is, assuming that JJ Abrams wanted to make that ability canon)

Exactly. Soul-transfer thigneys haven’t ever happened in canon which Snoke is.

Yes yes I know, but Episodes 7 and 8 aren’t in Legends, they’re canon-only. So Snoke couldn’t somehow manage to clone himself and transfer his spirit because that ability isn’t canon yet.
