When ever I play SP I just don't feel the friendly community vibe any more, I dunno why. Another reason is when ever I build something it is just very simple looking (pun not intended), I wish could build better looking builds. I am only good at mechanisms in SP, I just wish I better at planes cars etc...I Work on each mechanism for hours or even days. I wish got recognized more.
I wish somebody would help me.
I do feel better now, but I need to find a way to make mech bodies that don't interfere with the mechanisms. Any suggestions on how to do that?
Me and FlyingThings are spotlighting your things hopefully you can get more credit =D @serpant
yeah I'm going back and putting the controls in the description right now.
@serpant I downloaded one of your walker builds. The instructions said that the controls were the same as the last one, so I clicked on five more of your walkers (all of which said the same thing -- "controls same as last") before giving up. The point I'm trying to make is that no one apart from you will even remember what your last build was, let alone the controls for it. You need to include complete instructions with each build.
@SledDriver I use my tablet for the mod and xml stuff, the version of SP I use on OSX is the App Store one so mods won't work for it.
I not upset about the looks, I mean my builds are just plain looking is all.
my bad I mean to put the controls, but I forget and what I mean is like how there are the previous versions of my mech, I would be referring to the same controls the last mech I posted.
Here's another tip, every build needs to have complete instructions. Your posts all say "controls same as last." That's just not very helpful. Meet people halfway, at least.
You're partly right in that the community has changed and seems to be in a cut-throat competition for points. However, there are still quite a few people who're in it for the fun.
More importantly, you can increase the number of upvotes you get very simply -- by presenting your builds better. Remember that first impressions are very important, so your first thumbnail image needs to look good. For a newish user, especially, It's the only thing that determines whether people click through to the actual post or not. Here are some things you can do:
* Unless they're someone who deleted their account and came back, so that they're starting from a high skill level -- there are people who do this just to be able to boast about how quickly they got to platinum.
Your gadgets are cool. If you're upset about not getting attention, then it's time to learn how to make stuff pretty. People click on shiny pretty stuff, or familiar things. That's why Mustangs, Messerschmitts and Spitfires are always clogging up the front page. They're familiar and pretty. Anyway! As far as making better looking builds goes, you should think about what sort of stuff you want to make, search for good (pretty) examples of that stuff that other people have made, and TEAR THEM APART to figure out how they work. That's how I learned. That, and mod tools like Finetuner and Overload. Also, be prepared to spend more than a couple days making and testing and fixing and remaking things before uploading them, I've been building the same darn biplane for over two weeks.
I actually like your mechanisms a lot, I just realized I never followed you :). I think you could get a much better response from the community if you added a body to them (i.e. War Robots)
But some of your creations look rather interesting :)
