THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED

2,100 FgFg  6.6 years ago

Low ranking users don't get the recognition they deserve! I have seen many bronze users whose builds could compete with platinum users creations on detail and come out the winner, but get a fraction of the upvotes the platinum user gets! It just needs fixing, especially because it happens so many times.

Here we go again, the age-old repetitive rant. Just do what you think you're good at and keep improving on it and you'll get all the points you want. Good quality -> good reputation -> ++ upvotes.

@FgFg it just takes time. Enter tournaments. You can get easy points from them and not all winners were high ranking users. My first posts only had a few upvotes, then over time people found those post and upvoted them. I was in the same boat. Though instead of complaining that I wasn't getting much upvotes, I kept trying and building. That's why I have so many upvotes on my B-17.

Spotlight the build by a low ranking users that you think deserves more attention. Quality will attract followers over time.

@GINGER01, that is my point, I have seen amazing bronze persons who have 800+ parts in an aircraft, and the aircraft flies like a dream and has every feature that you could want, but then they get like 1 upvote

@ThePilotDude If you remove ranks there would be no sense of pride for "Leveling Up". Also there would be no point for having upvotes because the whole point of upvoting is to show support for the builder and have them gain points. Gaining points is just like real life though. It goes on a linear scale.
Example: I am the #1 Tennis player in the wold. I gain tons of new fans every day and am very popular. Somebody might be just starting tennis and be just as good as me. They spend days and they don't get very many fans because there name isn't out there.

@ThePilotDude I agree, However what you said about people getting too caught up in the points is absolutely correct.

@FgFg I think you need to provide a solution to a problem instead of just saying there's a problem. It's like saying somebody is choking and just watching the person die. Your not helping. I'm not trying to be harsh but that is just the fact. Low ranked users tend to use the excuse that platinum users take away points from them and that they can't gain points. That is baloney. Giving excuses to yourself won't fix anything and that goes for everybody. I was once a bronze level user. But I stuck to my guns and I dedicated time and effort into builds. I was silver when I got my first feature. To say low ranked users are blocked out is not true. If you want points put time and effort into builds. That's the reason Platinum users get so many points. People in the community can see who puts time and effort into their builds and the amount of upvotes that creation gets will show that. Plus platinum users have experience. It takes time to get good at something. It takes time to understand how to build good creations. You can't expect to jump right into the cockpit of a plane and instantly know how to fly a plane. It doesn't work like that. It just takes time. Now I hope I haven't lost you. Just remember what I have said. It will work out.

@JangoTheMango I thought it was JamesPlaneii who got his/her first build featured and silver in 2 days.
Because it was his second account

@CRJ900Pilot That wouldn't work as the hottest i believe is based off of how many upvotes a plane gets in a certain amount of time. If the plane gets more upvotes in the shortest amount of time, then they get to be at the top of the hottest page.

We could let users with less points stay on the hottest page longer @jamesPLANESii

BTW, How could we fix it is the real question. The Devs would most likely highly agree with you on this topic. But what could we do?

This used to be a lot worse before they added spotlights. Before then, only the top players got to the first page. Like, if a white player made an aeroplane which was as good as the platinum players, they used to only get around 20 updoots, compared to the platinum players who got 50.

Yeah, that's the thing is that people seethe platinum and they thing “oh look platinum I think I'll upvote it” but they don't think that for bronze or silver players

I agree but there’s not much devs can do to change people’s opinions. I think new planes should stay on the front page more and stay up longer on the hottest section
