As the civilian airspace closure continues, Bohemian Airlines (BAL) have grounded all of their aircraft, except their sole A380 which still operates a route between New Bohemia and Czech Republic.
The chief of BAL has stated that they are currently in a process of a complete refit of their fleet, ditching all of their BA-91C aircraft.
For some reason, people do not like to fly in decommissioned nuclear bombers. I do not understand it, but we need to adapt to the market. We expect the airspace closure to be lifted soon, and we are prepared to restart operations with our brand new Russian airliner
Said the chief of BAL. All of the twenty five BA-91C were sold off, with only two BA-91CLR being kept as executive jets.
Currently, eleven Ilyushin Il-96-400M aircraft were delivered to serve routes where the BA-91C used to fly, however, BAL has also stated that they have fifty more aircraft positions open and are looking forward for any manufacturer to offer them a new, middle-of-market aircraft.
Yes, we still need more aircraft. Our load factors were peaking before the closure, and we hope to expand much further in the close future, with a need for more and more aircraft. We are looking into the Boeing 787 or the Airbus A350, but we would welcome any offer from a different manufacturer.
Said the BAL chief when asked if they are willing to purchase more aircraft.
It is also very likely that they will soon dispose of their current fleet of Dassault Mercures as they are already considered very obsolete. Such an action would open up even more (51) free positions for new aircraft.
