Is there a mod that lets you import photos into the designer?
I build replicas. I try to make them as accurate as I can, so I base them off of blueprints and line art I find online. If I could import the images of those blueprints into the builder, it would save me a tremendous amount of time.
As it is, I have to take the wingspan of the real plane, convert that number into blocks (1 meter is 2 blocks). Then I have to open the line-art in MSpaint, make a selection box from wingtip to wingtip, read off the number of pixels. I have to divide the number of pixels by the number of blocks to get the number of pixels in each block, which is usually something obnoxious like 27.3358534242 so then I have to shrink the image so that there are 10 or 20 pixels to a block. When all that is done, I write 20 PIXELS = 1 BLOCK in the middle of the image so I dont forget and screenshot/import the specifications of the plane from wikipedia. And then the fun begins! As I build the plane, I measure everything using the selection box in MSpaint, and size the parts in SimplePlanes accordingly. I frequently mess up the conversions (even tho the math is easy) and have to redo stuff, not to mention the alt-tabbing and general distraction of the whole process.

@RamboJutter Well, I figure I owe it to people. Replicas get a bad name around here, considering how often they overshadow the fictional builds. I try to shine a little light on history, hoping someone might learn something, by making planes that look and perform as close to the real thing as I can make them.
My new challenge is to try to make them look good but still run on phones. Mixed results so far.
I'm amazed you go to all that effort, I use the mark 1 eyeball and scale figures from drawings etc (and it's recently been pointed out to me how easy it is to scale the whole plane) obviously your method will be more accurate but way more time consuming... credit to you.

That mod isn't given to people anymore. A while back, there was some controversy involving the mod, so the creator decided to stop giving it to people.
I think there’s the photo mod or something. AlderSteiner or how ever you spell his name uses it
