So I was testing out my new flare cannon lately and I noticed something strange...
I accidently discovered that if you force a part to be detached it will still be able to use the weapons attached. Unlike with a normal detacher which disables the use of weapons once detached.
Normal Detachment:
Forced Detachment:
This is actually quite useful in making turrets, drones, unmanned vehicles or deployable crafts.
Stated below are the advantages and disadvantages of this method...
Advantages:
1. Guns fire (without adding extra guns)
2. Rockets and Rocket Pods launch
3. Missiles lock and fire
4. Torpedos and Bombs drop
Disadvanteges:
1. Disables once the main craft (parts where the main cockpit is attached) is damaged.
2. Disables once one missile, rocket, bomb, torpedo is fired. (rocket pods can still be fired)
3. Cameras are associated with the angle of which the main cockpit is at.
4. Missile locking is still based on the main cockpit's view.
5. Any form of detachment using pylons and detachers will disable the forcefully detached weapons.
I've developed a turret using this method.
Please kindly notify me if this already exist, has already been known to the game or someone has already posted something similar to this.
Elite out.
I would love to learn a bit more about this type of technology. The fact that it was even mentioned by the person who created linear weigher https://www.smartweighpack.com/linear-weigher makes me all the more curious about it. What's it all about?
@SSSvaSSa lol I should specify my forums more :P
@F104Deathtrap thanks :)
@Spacedoge12345plane already did. And it will be out by tomorrow.
Very clever.
Tell me when you make a build using this awsome new technology
@EliteArsenals24 oh ok
@Minecraftpoweer that is what I've exactly done with the turret. I actually do not know what is happening at first but since you explained it now I know. Thanks man!
@EliteArsenals24 npthe easiest way that would work like a real detacher would be making it retract at ag1 and having blovks in front and the back of the top making it stop from dragging the drone or whatever with it and detaching easely
@Minecraftpoweer hmm. Might test that out. Thanks for some tips!
@EliteArsenals24 im thinking because if something is too Heavy or unbalanced on a piston without prevent breaking the part just detaches
@Minecraftpoweer In this case I used a rotator with a 90° angle of rotation with a long fuselage block attached then placed a block to stop it when it reaches at about 45° and it forcefully continues to rotate even though there is something blocking it then it soons detaches or breaks apart but there will be no damage which allows weapons to be used. I am not sure about the piston though. It might work but I haven't tried it.
@EliteArsenals24 so one of the ways to do that would be to have the part on a piston without prevent breaking on?
@Minecraftpoweer what I mean by forced is to force a part to collide with another part until it comes off. You'll know what I mean once I've posted my turret lol.
@EliteArsenals24 probably but what do you mean by ''forced''? like if it starts on a piston without it being unbreakable and it detaches?
@ColonelStriker Will do sir.
@Minecraftpoweer well I think what I've found is new lol
Can you tag me if you are uploading it? I want to experiment with this newfound tech
@EliteArsenals24 i have not tested
@Minecraftpoweer alrighty then. But do missiles work when they are detached?
@EliteArsenals24 on mobile you need to be able to press the fire guns button so you can fix that if you have a gun on the main vehicle so that you can press fire. it works on mobile then.
@Minecraftpoweer Maybe on the PC versions but I'm on mobile so Guns do not work when they are detached.
@Minecraftpoweer oh do they?
guns allways work
