How to turn a ship?

5,234 noob11  6.4 years ago

I've been recently working on making ships, and I'm having trouble with getting them to turn. I've tried many things, including putting VTOL nozzles on the bow and/or stern, scaling down large vertical stabilizers to act as rudders, and even using a gyroscope with several million yaw power. But, whatever I try the ship still refuses to behave normally, and slides from side to side instead of actually turning the hull. If any experienced ship builders can offer me some tips it would be greatly appreciated.

I always remember wanting to relax and swim in a canoe, for example. This is a very comfortable and light type of boat, which can be launched on the sea surface without any problems and difficulties. I found here https://kolibriboats.com/us/ a large selection of such canoes and different shapes and designs, which is very important when selecting a boat in general. Good luck with it.

Just use gyroscope with 100000% (or maybe more) Yaw power

@HaseebAF first press pause the characteristic is in the form of three lines and then you see It's like a picture of the location you press it then it says water take off and you press it and boom you are at the port

I want the ship to be in the water, not on the runway. What should I do?

@Feanor i made pirate ship with rudder but i use wind to steer and accelerate, it can go 70mph.

@CaptainJackSparrow With a ship propelled by sails, it will be less complicated when it comes to steering. Just use the rudder at the stern and rudder inside the bow. If your ship weighs less than 2 million pounds, using a gyroscope for stability will not be needed.

Try making a rudder using a wing peice that is mainly a control surface and put it onto yaw control

@Theron Go into xml or use overload: look for chordScale and increase it to chordScale="8" or higher.

@Feanor how do you do that

@Feanor how do you make your ships I can't even see the hole thing and how do you make your propellers work under water

I use a vtol nozzle and have the front and back turn against each other a example is my super charged race boat I also used this turning system on my aircraft carrier but as far as boats go they are pretty light

Well, you could either increase the propeller horsepower to 500,000 and add more of them if you still aren't fast enough. OR you could use xlml modded jet engines, but these will probably prevent you from reversing. @Spacedoge12345plane

    this design works great!:

low speed turning, high speed conservation, fast turning.

Holy crap the greatest so shipbuilder himself. Question: why is your boats acceleration so slow is it possible to have a button designated to making a unrealistic speed to make moving the boat in the water easier in an upcoming build@Feanor

2 jet engines facing eachother in the bow :D

@noob11 ok then you can use overload to change the vtol Engines Power which would make it so that the ship wsn't too fast

Put a rudder at the front and invert the input?
