So what are the communities thoughts on recolored planes and planes that only have minor changes done to them compared to their predecessor, being uploaded by other users?
As it stands right now this is allowed, but I have seen a number of planes being reported because they change the color only.
@Verdnan : You sound quite smart; I agree. I don't like it when someone earns more points than me with an recoloured airplane I built. But what can we do, indeed it's an open game.
I don't care much some times I even encourage it. I want to see how you make it.
I agree with @yeolde1rishman unless its an inappropriate repaint like those cr*p planes
As long as credit is given
Jshay made a copy of my Sh-77 but I'm fine with it be has it does look different than mines
@Puredeath I dont really like it. would old ones be kept?
@Verdnan you can report it and another mod or I will take it down, if we do not catch it first
What can we do? This has been hit on many times before. No one can really police this sort of thing effectively. Why just a week ago someone uploaded a carbon copy of mine and for what? It's an open game and we have no copyrights, other than not sharing. I'm done with it, I'm done trying to protect my stuff from a small minority that will never succeed in this community. But most people don't, and respect other designers. And it's easy to see who they are. We just have to live with it and try our best to seek out the genuine.
I'd say no repaints but I think essentially any other change is perfectly acceptable.
It fine in my opinion
Oh yeah @LordofLego
I agree with @Lucky13 unless the original was a "replica" with a paint job so incorrect and atrocious that it must be fixed. I haven't seen any yet, though.
I, personally think that repaint-onlys are abominable
I'm fine with re-paints but only if they are actually good and not painted in psychedelic colours, I'm also OK with improvements but only if they are credited and improve the realism of a plane, I'm not ok with improvements on FICTIONAL planes because the person improving ususaly takes the full name of the plane, XVI whatsit or something but that pisses me off cause usually they 1. Don't credit u and refer to u as "some guy" 2. Take the name of your plane, suggesting it is the same when no, it's not 3. Fictional planes express our imagination, then someone just takes a dump on your idea when they copy it, 4. Usually they make it worse and 5. Any up votes on that suggest that people like that plane because it has been made worse, therefore they are going against me!
@HypnoticChicken yes, either make it unlisted or save it to your device in your editor. Either way, I don't think the community really needs to see that sort of content. It doesn't get voted, and it just takes up space on the newest list that could be more original content.
@TheLatentImage I think if u do a repaint, you should have to make it unlisted.
@TheLatentImage I agree 100%.
For me, recolors don't need to be published publicly. If a user wants a design a specific color or paint scheme then they can paint it and save it. I don't see how multiple colors of the same design benefit the community.
Design changes, even slight, should stay in my opinion. As long as it is a successor and credit the original, then I personally don't have a problem with it.
I think it's fine as long as they use the painted tag.
I dislike anything that's a simple repost, it displaces genuine stuff.
Then why bother report if the predecessor is plagiarized and is a failed attempt? @Puredeath
@Planeez but generally these successors do not get upvotes
I mean, both planes and creators benefit from the predecessor...
I feel that's okay, as long as the changes can easily be seen, such as different wing size/shape, and speed of plane.
