guys... I built a submarine made entirely for the launch of cleavers, but ... when the submarine submerges, after returning to the surface the missiles simply do not take off, they lock on the target, but after the shot they just fall, is there any way make them work after they've been wet?
I know it's old but on missiles you can set the parameter "waterproof" true in xml
@Minecraftpoweer Yea, so in theory keeping them above the water will ensure they function, which is the idea behind the method I'm developing.
@MintLynx Yeah I also planned to do that on one I'm building in the future. Then I remembered that mine would be able to sink and this wouldn't work. But they only deactivate after you fire them in water, right?
@Minecraftpoweer Possibly, luckily there is another work around for building custom cruise missiles seen here. Using a tiny missile to act as propulsion which sits above the water at a certain depth while the main warhead sits inside and is pulled along upon firing.
I plan to use this alongside another simple trick for creating a makeshift 'VLS' system for submarines. Allowing operation of guided missiles above the dreaded 60 feet mark, while keeping them safe when you're diving below that and not using them.
@MintLynx yup I noticed that too now. It might have come with the update? Since I did post that comment 9 months ago...
@Minecraftpoweer In my recent experiments I've found that missiles completely deactivate the moment they make contact with water. Even if a detacher can shoot them out of the water, they just fall back in and don't even try to home on the target.
You can use the same trick that I used:
Stick them inside the sub high thingy, so that they have some manoeuvre space.
If that still doesn't work, take my sub's missiles and use them.
Also, if a detachable weapon goes under -60ft, it'll despawn.
I have found this problem too. Missiles deactivate thrust when they touch water.
putting them on detachers (make the age fro the detachers to 9 using overload or deactivate them i usualy make them to ag9) will launch them up and then they should hopefullybe out of the water and start. that is how it works irl kindoff, they get launched up using from the water using some kind of propulsion (i dont remember exactly because it was a long time ago i watched a documentary about submarines) and then when they're out of the water the rocket starts or something like that.
While I do not believe that you can make them work while submerged, you can go around the problem by sticking the missiles on pistons. It also works very well in multiplayer if you want to massacre the server without getting caught.
