TS-14 Master Class Vehicle

Mod Squirrel  6.2 years ago

Squirrel Industries has stepped up its game with the inclusion of a new type of Squirrel Industries produced Vehicle.

The Master Class Vehicle (MCV).

Background

Squirrel Industries MCVs are a common vehicle platform that has been extensively modified for different purposes. The TS-14 project originally started out through the TS-10 project. Squirrel Industries set out to create a dual gun tank, with extreme off-road capability and plenty of defensive measures in place to protect it.

However, the program got cancelled in favour of the TS-11 project due to the proposed higher versatility and fire power at its disposal. However, the TS-11 was also cancelled after issues with added weight from the second turret meaning the off-road capabilities of the TS-11 were compromised as well as this, the hull proved to be too tall and consequently countermeasure coverage was poor.

Development

Much later, Squirrel Industries began investigating the possibility of an armoured repair vehicle to aid forces that would otherwise in incapable of being reached to adequately repair vehicles. Although, after much design work to create a low-profile hull, it became apparent that the TS-14 at the time (later named Apollo) had a lot more potential as a multi-platform vehicle.

Learning from previous errors in tank design, Squirrel Industries decided to draft up 2 tank models (later known as Ares and Athena), to serve 2 different purposes. A Peace Support Operation (PSO) fit, which would serve as a heavily armed brute force battle tank and a Scout fit, used for more strategic operations which required more speed, agility and a wider range of tactical weapons.

The TS-14 project's scope was widened once more when the need for a bridge deployment version became apparent after a village in Maywar had been seized by enemy forces, with the only viable option for cover being an old shipping port, although the gap for vehicle crossing was too small for large vehicles to cross without risking the loss of valuable supplies.

At the same time, Squirrel Industries needed a vehicle to cross the port that was capable of carrying soldiers and VIPs to the area without putting them in harms way. Thus the Iris variant was required.

As a result of the combined effort of Apollo, Ares, Athena, Hermes and Iris, the village was taken back under control and the enemy threat neutralised. While aircraft could have achieved a similar goal, it wouldn't have been without much more destruction to the area. As a result, Squirrel Industries is looking to invest more in ground vehicles, while also making advancements in aircraft design.

@jamesPLANESii It's a nickname I've had since childhood. When I was in first school, I got called it because my last name sounds similar, but also because I always climbed trees to get away from people in games of tag, piccadilly, etc.

@RailfanEthan Ironically, the whole concept was actually inspired by General Dynamics's AJAX.
