So I've wanted to do the craft for a while, it's actually quite interesting as it might have actually left the ground.... but this claim is not accepted by most people. It was shown that the Avion Éole did make a brief hop. Here are some pics of the Avion III
Avion III
Skip to 1:48 to see the replica roll out, this also took an hour and a half to find
The back wheels may have lifted within the last few second..... I'm blown away
Avion Éole
I actually believe this is the Avion Éole, but there is something interesting. The craft has a system where if the plane rolled it could level back out by warping the wings (A primitive autopilot system) . Although I may be mistaken by the article I read. I've wanted to try and attempt to make the Avion III but I will have to add an elevator because the real craft didn't have one. So, any questions?
UPDATE:
I found the craft had controls but.....
I need to find a picture of the inside, I'm not even sure if one exists. Also, if anyone is willing to help me to find I picture of the interior and spot clues about controls I would be grateful. If you do find pictures, tag me in an unlisted post and we will talk. I may also give upvotes for people that help.
Oh hooooly...
Good luck on making that
I suppose you'll have to take some liberties with the interior if you plan to have one, but according to the video it looks extremely simple a seat and some levers...lol
Wow that’s crazy. I didn’t think it was possible for a steam powered anything to fly... let alone a 19th century design... @ThePrototype
Interesting... @ThePrototype
I may have thought of a way to make my autopilot system work...... I will have to try it out later, it involves a weighted ball @Hyattorama
IT might have flown..... @Hyattorama
Wow I can’t believe they actually built that!!! That’s crazy haha. I guess it didn’t fly tho right? @ThePrototype
Wings would also be slide forwards and aft, and then the wingtips would apparently move as well @DPSAircraftManufacturer
But I believe Camber of the wing was increased or lessened causing lift to increase and decrease @DPSAircraftManufacturer
I will have to acquire some new building techniques that's for sure. @DPSAircraftManufacturer
Ok, I appreciate the help. And if you don find something let me know. I want to try to build this thing as accurate as possible, but with a few changes @Hyattorama
This thing looks pretty tricky man... I don’t think I will be able to help but I’ll look around to see if I can find an image of the interior... don’t hold your breath haha. But I really can’t wait to see what you come up with! @ThePrototype
@DPSAircraftManufacturer this will have been my most difficult project to date..... I hope that I can least make fly and have realistic controls....
Congrats!!!!! @DPSAircraftManufacturer
@Hyattorama Sorry for the constant tagging, They built the thing, I'm speechless Skip to 1:48
@PlanesOfOld Skip to 1:48, you won't believe what I found
@ThePrototype Ey, thanks!
:) and you seem to be the nicest guy on the site, and I'm not kidding about that either.... @FastDan
@ThePrototype Well for the type of mechanical planes you make I think you are.
Thanks, but I know I'm not the best by a long shot.... but I seem to be the only one that is active :( @FastDan
@ThePrototype For sure.You are the best mechanical builder I know.
That is the only piece of footage I can find...... but you think I can build it? @FastDan
@ThePrototype Cool!
Haha, look at the video I linked, it's incredible @FastDan Skip to 1:48
I was shocked when I found it, those men actually building the darn thing.... and I applaud them. Them didn't use anything modern or try to skip around stuff, THEY BUILT THR ENTIRE THING 100% ACCURATE @DPSAircraftManufacturer
