So I was trying to test the durability of an A10-like aircraft I've been working on by firing at a WWII destroyer and then jettisoning all weapons. The idea is that the destroyers would fire on me with machine guns and shells and I would only take damage to the airframe instead of blowing up my bombs. When I jettison my bombs and missiles, they cease fire and don't defend themselves even if i shoot at them with guns. What's going on?
Edit: This also occurs with the convoy
Edit 2: When I jettison weapons in a dogfight, it says I've been critically damaged. It's probably happening because I have fuselage blocks and structural panels used as cluster pylons
@LiamW XD this is ace combat talking
Or that @stig27
@LiamW better:
Eject pylons, attack with no resistance
Absolutely. I’m thinking of creating an ejector cabin for one of my upcoming planes. Eject cabin, cease fire humanely @stig27
@LiamW
HMMMMMMM
I see some uses here......
Thanks, but I’ve already established that as you can see in the edited section and the comments below @laserborn88
Because they are parts detaching from the plane it counts as you being destroyed so the AI stops fireing
All aggressive entities cease fire when you are "critically damaged" so you don’t have missiles continually hitting your separated cockpit. It also means you can watch your aircraft fall from the sky in a fiery blaze instead of being bombarded by machine gun fire until there is nothing left. It also means ejecting a pylon breaks the whole system @stig27
@LiamW maybe it tricks the game into thinking that you are now harmless, and they cease fire.
@jamesPLANESii figured it out. Edited the post to explain
@jamesPLANESii Yes. I initiated hostilities and they started attacking, I jettisoned weapons and they stopped. I even blew the carrier and one destroyer with guns and the other destroyer didn't care. If I don't jettison bombs and missiles, they continue attacking
Did you hit them? I think you need to hit them for them to get angry.
