Can you get a wheel to power a free moving rod

Hi guys I’m wondering if there’s a way you can get a wheel to spin a rod attached to a free moving rotator. My attempts only have the wheel going through the rod and not affecting its rotation at all.

Yeah someone used that to make a plane@F104Deathtrap

I seem to recall someone using a sphere as the contact point for the wheel. I could be wrong.

Yeah that’s what i’m Doing. Still goes right through the rod. Rod is just a normal fuselage@jamesPLANESii

Maybe you should have them so there’s a gap and putting the wheels on a piston or something so doing VOL up makes the wheel press against the rod or something... @Rub3n213

Also, what about a static wheel, so it can be rotated by a rotator(free moving powered by the other stuffs)

I want to have a crack at building a mechanical transmission

Originally had them placed so they were touching the rod. Traction max + suspension still no movement @jamesPLANESii

You gotta have it so the wheels are touching somthing and are on springs and stuff.

I need to do some digging then. My test involved having the powered wheel attached to a piston so I can move the wheel to the free moving rod. Just goes through it :( @randomusername
