To all real life pilots...

I've got a question. One of the reasons why squawk codes are used is to signal the tower and/or other aircrafts a life threatening situation. If a aircraft suffers from a fuel leak in mid flight, do you have to set squawk 7700?
I'm not a aviation pro and I'm just wondering what to do when something like this accrued.
Thx in advance

If there was a bad guy in your plane, they would be upset if you contacted tower and said “hey there’s a hijacker in the cockpit”. So instead you put in 7500, I’m not a pilot (yet) but yea. There ya go

Well 7700 is for general emergencies, so stuff involving airframe issues and I believe passengers are covered under that also. 7600 is for radio failure, or lost communications, and there are a “few” complex procedures to follow with radio failure. And finally, 7500 is for hijacking and hijacking only.
I could go in depth more on those, so that’s just a basic summary of them

There is a difference between Distress and Urgency. You can squawk 7700 but have to tell what's your problem, then tower will know if it's urgency or distress
