Muzzle Blast

So, I've decided to attempt some form of actual tank. I've looked over barrels and noted that a few of them (for Example I believe the Panzer IV) Have muzzle breaks. Sniper rifles also have these, or at least some do. This is not a question for what purpose they have this is a question on how to re-create them.

Things I've tried:
I tried to use guns to recreate a strange system for creating a mass of explosion coloured bullets with different sizes to try and mimic the effect. Safe to say it was working, fairly OK. Then I encountered a problem, there is no way to change the XML for the gun's input. I know it can be changed by tool binds however I want to be able to fire the main gun and the sub-guns separately so that's not an option.
I tried to use countermeasures however that had two problems. Problem the first was that the input was stuck and bound, problem the second was that the delay couldn't be changed to match the gun. (Bonus problem: the colour of the chaff can't be changed and Flares don't look so good.)

Things I've yet to try
I've yet to try engines however the problem I have with them is that there is no way (to my knowledge) to make the engine fire in bursts to match the gun's output.

Basically what I'm saying is that XML, while giving me options doesn't give me enough. If anyone has anyway of helping on any aspect of the large rant above, Please let me know.

    @Meepmaster87 IT actually doesn't have a custom blink program but I could probably do that to make it only light up after a reload. I have no idea, I just guessed when I chose mine.

    @Minecraftpoweer, The beacon with a custom blink program works perfectly, here's a question, What colour would you say a muzzle explosion is?

    @Minecraftpoweer, Thanks for the model, it's a good idea but the only problem with it is the fact that i remains active even while a shell isn't being launched, but I should be able to fix that with some XML (I Hope) but overall it's a really good tank

    @Meepmaster87 you should have tagged me because I didn't know you responded. For bombs you can try to make that thing where an explosion is the muzzleflash but I have not done it because I have not learned that yet. I Think this worked fine and looks pretty good.Try for yourself and tell me what you think

    @minecraftpoweer, I know the reason for them, we had to study it in physics, i'm simply asking how to recreate them. But thanks for the concern.

    I am no expert at all but they can be used to redirect the blast. I also Think that some of them are used to decrease recoil by using the blast to propell the gun forward which decreases the recoil. Some may also help when the blast is redirected to the side instead of all of the force comming out in the front which shoots up all of the dust etc in the front. If the force is decreased in the front but some comes out of the sides it is probably easier to get a followup shot with a sniper rifle.
