34 Plank  6.0 years ago

Hi.

On the fence about purchasing. Hmm...

Can I use my custom flight controls?
( It's a full size joystick and rudder bar)

and ...

Can I use my headtracking rig?
( opentrack and sony camera...)

YES would be ACE!
NO would be less than optimal... probably would not purchase.. sorry.

But I love flying!!! and would love to try and make a plane or three!

First up would be a DH4 single seat heavy fighter.... WW1 fantasy Biplane...

Oh I hear there is a competition for such things... yey!

Ah, yes. So... hmmm. Hello!

Salute!

Planky.

Yes and yes. It might be tricky to get setup but you’ll be able to get workaround and adapter programs for it if it doesn’t initially work.

Hi Plank ! And welcome to Simple Planes !
You can use your joystick and rudder pedal easily. You can also use head tracking system, but you'll need to link it to a virtual joystick to be recognized by the game. Some people asked me how to use Trackir in SP, so I think i'll make a forum post about it soon.

    1 is totally a yep
2, there are joystick input axes for camera up down left and right and if your head tracker does the thing where it emulates a joystick then you are good to go - it worked for me with one of those cheap gyro based ones.

@MisterT uses a head tracking rig, so maybe ask him.
