So I got bored, I've always wanted to do Maxim's giant steam powered machine and try to make it as close to he real thing as possible. I decided to make it, I also believe that I have created the most stable piston engines on the site. They can run at 80% piston power and 100% throttle without a problem or interruption while the engines are running. The machine is only around 50% complete as of this post.
Here are some screenshots of the machine
The real machine was powered by 2 massive 180 horsepower coal fed steam engines. The engines drove two 17 foot diameter propellers. This propelled the machine to a speed of 40mph. Maxim never intended the machine to actually fly, he just wanted to prove that engines of the time were able to power and drove a machine up to flying speed. On a day on testing the machine was started up like normal and was running along the track used to keep the machine from rising completely off the ground. Unexpectedly the machine had broke off the track and started flying, shortly after the machine had crashed. It was estimated that the machine had generated 10,000lbs of lift when it broke the track. The machine itself weighed 4 tons.
@ThePrototype I totally agree with you. Thanks, really thanks
@Germany we could help one another, I usually dont do collabs, but I am willing to come out of hiding. Its rare to find someone who loves early aviation.
Hey hey my friend, i really like maxim's steam powered airplane too! I also love the henson aerial steam carriage and the clément ader's avion éole... we could help each other with the airplanes. You help me with the henson aerial airplane and i help you with ader's avion and the maxim's steam airplane! what do you think of this exchange?
All it is is a wing spinning which is producing lift and the lift is the thrust that propels the craft forwards. @randomusername
Piston* but yes techcinally also electric at the same time @randomusername
Wow crazy!!!!
Besides the new thing I put in their today I have only used that @Spacedoge12345plane
To the best of what? I don't really use Sub-Assmeblies @Spacedoge12345plane
Link me to a subassembly of the best you got. Btw I’ll keep supporting your account.@ThePrototype
Idk if I spelled that right lol
Okie dokie! @ThePrototype
I will :) @ACEPILOT109
Np, tag me when it’s posted @ThePrototype
Thank you :) @ACEPILOT109
I like it
Thank you @ThePrototype
Hmmm, tomorrow or the day after @Theboss313
When are you planning on releasing it. @ThePrototype
Sure :) @IzzyIA
Can I see? Cause I beg to differ XD @ThePrototype
@IzzyIA @Spacedoge12345plane I made probably one of the most stable piston engines on the site :)
