Having trouble creating suspension system on an already existing chassis.

I'm working on a car and I decided to build the chassis first but I'm struggling with creating suspension for it. I've put springs in the wheel wells and used fuselage bits connected by floppy hinge rotators. The hinge rotators work fine when they're floppy and don't act up and the wheels seem to follow the same system when I attach them.

When I put on a spring though, it seems like the whole suspension system goes stiff, the hinge rotators don't allow the fuselage "wishbones" to go down or up. . I'm not putting it in the wrong place and I'm resizing using XML (Overload) to make it the right size for the wheel wells.

Could someone walk me through implimenting the spring system? I managed some for the front wheels but those are stiff as well, I can leave those though, but the rear ones I really want to get right because they'll have larger tires and I want the chassis/body to tilt realistically, but also prevent the car itself from flipping over.
