Yet another teaser(Updated with progress)

video
While waiting for tracks 2 I am making Another filler and this time using beta items.
It will be a crane. It does not have any Wheels yet because the beta kind off screwed things up for me by making big wheels wobbly when connected to custom suspension as you can see here:

Screenshot is only there to show how Wheels are messed up and are not part of the build

I tested and this can currently carry atleast 60k extra pounds.

Looks pretty balling right now.

Still some work to be done
All connected parts are only 261! So I guess it will probably be mobile friendly. I guess at max it will be 800 parts?

As you can see here I have made a boom, it has 4 extendable boom sections apart from the main boom.

Fully extended, it takes a while to do with the thickest section retracting fully last.
Boom bend is minimized using 5 pistons to connect each section, will probably still bend on heavy loads but it's better than using 2 as I tried before.
(with boom connected to main build the part count is about 340 so still low)

To do now is pretty much a superstructure, cabin, erm… ballast and pretty much finnish the thing. Probably wont be done today. Also hookblock and winch. And wheels if they won't be broken.

So the boom has been test fitted or if it works out well it will be fitted here.

Pretty fancy huh?

Time to make the drums for the cables and cabin I guess. Maybe I'll do the ballast Before the cab. 414 parts

Added 4 more outriggers (These ones only go down and don't extend out) They help with stabilizing the now heavier machine. I have added ballast and the drum (with the use of a winch the cable moves with the boom as it lowers and rises)In the Picture it is carrying a 10k Pounds weight. For the ballast I used "centerOfMass" code to push it further behind and down so that It doesn't have to weigh too much but still gets the job done. If the machine does not work well when done I will see if "diffuseInertiaTensors" helps.
Note Winch and Magnet are temporary

Nothing new, just a closeup. 481 parts. Still low.

Hook block is done, need to hide the leveling mechanism though.

Non Picture update. Tomorrow efficiency will be cut due to 2 big homework assignments for me. I will try to do them when I Wake up so that i can complete this during the rest of the day.
__
Still can't get access to the above mentioned Picture but I got one that works

The p-51 isn't very Heavy at only 5k lbs but hey it works at full mast.
The Wheels are temporary and are only for moving around temporarely right now and even without suspension they have problems

Lifting this

Busy with homework right now but if I forgot to mention, the outriggers no longer extend with vtol, they fully extend with the press of activation Group 2. They lower with LandingGear.

Hook block will require a remake to make it more realistic and work with the physics better. Also waiting for a possible sollution for the Wheel problem.

New hook block, It's fancier and has more joints to make it more flexible, I am going to test it to see how it does with the physics

Seems to work pretty well. As you can see this thing can carry pretty big loads, this is the plane I use as a target all the time (18k lbs) And You can also see the sper realistic feature I implemented, Boom Deflection. Yup totally on purpose.

Made this fancy graphic showing how less swing would work with help of a gyro:

Full 1.8 release Max Graphics.

Still working on the crane, now it has a fancier actually decent looking ballast/counterweight.

Updated pulleys on the jib and optional gyro mode for hook block. Ag7
Probably going to make a hook direction indicator with the use of a gun.

Hook guiding implemented, don't worry It can't damage or even hit parts for that matter. The guide passes right through.

Hook guide in use

Gyro rotating superstructure enabeling continuous rotation! I was suprised it worked well with the immense weight! (also tested bearing load) 653 parts right now. It will have a travel lock of sorts to keep the boom in Place during repositioning.

With extra ballast you are kind off able to lift 60k lbs, task failed successfully. (Extra ballast might not be implemented on release version)

Works better at a more reasonable boom lenght.

Made custom fancy suspension that worked pretty well but it adds a lot of unnecessary weight and parts, it also did bend the Wheels slightly. I will save this version but work will be continued on the normal one.

Cab is in progress, already made a forward folding steering Wheel that turns, probably won't make moving crane Controls except for a joystick or 2

Updated cab slightly but work is done for today, might be done tomorrow with the whole thing, no new pics.

I am pretty sick so I couldn't do a lot but it is pretty much finished, will probably be completely done tomorrow so that's when it will be uploaded.

Nice

Crane operation is fully possible from cab camera thanks to the nice visibility and hook position indicator

Could you make a .25 scale magnet for a refueling probe I’m making please.

@jamesPLANESii I found this So I guess the lenght is fine but would it not be enough to eleveate the boom yourself? I'm thinking that sometimes It would need to be lowered to the max to fit under bridges or something and that would not be possible if I used Finetuner to raise it.

@jamesPLANESii Yeah I know, I had to do that so that the piston was angeled like it is now, Ill probably do it when everything else is done. That way it isn't elevated too much or too little.

What you can do is you can multi select every part on the arm beginning with the rotator is rotates on and hen you can pivot the whole thing to the position you want. It isn’t too much work. @Minecraftpoweer

@jamesPLANESii Might do that if it won't be too much work because I would have to change the piston aswell etc but it is probably a must. Unless the telescopic cab works out.

Ok. If you’re gonna do that style boom, then I recommend having the minimum height of the boom a little upward so the driver can see under it. @Minecraftpoweer

@jamesPLANESii I will just hope everything turns out ok. I never do a sketch or anything Before I make fictional stuff.

@jamesPLANESii Also the libherr in the cab example has a 36m boom and mine is about 40. link

@jamesPLANESii I just wanted a big crane but as for the cab thing this would have a similar problem but if I have to make it more realistic I could do this because my crane is fictional so I can probably manage to do something similar. And compared to similar looking cranes the boom on this is possibly 1 section longer but for some other crane you could basically attach a fly job to achieve the same lenght.

    @Minecraftpoweer ooo very nice

That crane seems awfully large compared to the size of the base, also, if the driver is gonna sit next to the crane arm, he’s only gonna be able to look one side, making it dangerous at intersections...
