Flaps???

36.4k Cjredwards  9.2 years ago

Can somebody explain. To me how to make working flaps? Or is it possible to somehow put the flaps on the wings to the vtol slider?

You guys could check out my 737-300, it uses flaps and slats with two rotators and one piston each. The piston pushes the flap backwards and out of the wing, and the rotator turns it down to look like a real flap. You could even make double or triple-slotted flaps with this design.

Well, a rotator would work. I do wish we could remove the connectors on wings though, I wanted to put a smooth rotator-connected wing that'd line up perfectly, but it connected always so I had to scrap the idea

@Cjredwards you can make flaps easy by adding an extra yaw controll surface on your primary wings see my Skyhawk 2 if you want

I just use rotators hidden inside the fuselage. Only thing that you have to take into account is that the surface that you want and the rotator have to be connected before you position them otherwise I've found that they rotate really weirdly. A couple of my planes have this if you want to take them apart to see how I've done it.

Setting the control surface to move with vtol in the xml doesn't work sadly :/

Use a rod of some sort going through the wing connected to rotator at one end and flap at the other, see Walbro Monoplane to see how this can work

All we need is the ability to make control surfaces move with vtol for easy flaps @AndrewGarrison

@Kikasshes and I have a few flaps and slats planes (Im working on one today actually) His are much better than mine since I just started experimenting, but talk to him/her if you want to know how to do it WELL.

I don't know, but you could put airbrakes on the wings if the wings are made with fuselage blocks
