The Saltwater Carrier Nation

40.2k Typhoon03  5.6 years ago

In 2005 the almost trillionaire CENSOREDNAME was bored of life. He used his billions to buy an old aircraft carrier and, after fixing it up, set sail. Many other bored people joined him on board and soon their numbers reached 6000. The rich people clubbed together and along with billions of funding from "special sources" they bought a pair of AS-AC-10 aircraft carriers plus many aircraft and ships. A few days later CENSOREDNAME declared them an independent country. The Saltwater Carrier Nation was formed.
Now, 7 years on, the nation is fully equipped for war, although usually likes to be neutral. Our main income is from tourism and airlift services. Our population stands at 11,000, of which 10,880 are in someway or another fighting troops.

Our military is something like this:

SALTWATER NAVY:
1 AS-AC-10 aircraft carrier.
5 Pearl-class corvettes.
2 Butterfly-class corvettes, thanks to SubXTribe.
12 Fury-class frigates.
6 Type 26 frigates.
1 Genesis-class destroyer.
2 Tide-class tankers.
2 Ursa-class ballistic missile submarines.
2 Albacore-class attack submarines.
6 AW109 SAR helicopters.
2 Airborne Aircraft Carriers, thanks to Notaleopard.
7,000 men.

SALTWATER AIR FORCE:
40 F-52 Juggernaut air superiority fighters.
40 F-112 Destroyer upgraded strike fighters.
25 Dark Arrow heavy attack aircraft.
10 MV-22 Osprey carrier-on-board-delivery aircraft.
20 S-3 Viking anti-submarine aircraft.
20 AW101 Merlin general purpose helicopters.
10 AW101 Merlin AWACS helicopters.
25 Avro RJ regional transports.
5 Raython Sentinel ground surveillance aircraft.
6 Blackburn Buccaneer strike bombers (heavily modified).
3 IAI Kfir fighter-bombers.
6 FP-2B interdiction aircraft.
1 FP-2A fighter aircraft, held for spares.
2,330 men.

SALTWATER MARINE CORPS:
500 GIs.
100 special forces men.
50 high-command officers.
50 assassins.
8 landing craft.
10 Lynx Wildcat helicopters.
60 aircraftsmen.
240 men in support roles.
20 105mm howitzers.
30 anti-tank missile launchers.
4 P.006a-30m scout vechicles.

We are allied with SimpleLandia, the Conegsreich Republic, United Aisa and the P.O.B. We are located somewhere in international waters, except for one Tide-class tanker, which is in Portsmouth on a supply trip.

    @TheFantasticTyphoon if a nation can't drop a billion bombs, then I don't see why a country on a ship couldn't be enforced

@CptJacobson We are fine for now, since the Navy's main role is the protection of the carriers. However if vessels are sunk or seriously damaged then your old ships would be a welcome addition to the fleet.

@exosuit This is fictional. Most other people seem fine with the idea. Please don't pick holes in it.

. . . In international waters ships are basically an extension of the country under which they are flagged.
    .
Which you have none considering that you declared yourself independent
    .
Not to mention that a country must have a defined border, which you don't have because ships move
    .
Also isn't your core member consists of 6000 people
    .
Also how exactly do you provide military service? I mean, you wouldn't relocate your entire country just because someone wanted their oil platforms not to be messed up, and you must be pulling for a really expensive one because of how expensive ships are to maintain, and the fact that no one would want to get bankrupt within the first week of running a country

The SWS Indefatigable and SWS Agamemnon
Are on the way they should Arrive in 1 minute.
They don't Require Fuel and are Self Maintaining.
This AAC is from yukikaze but its not the right scale

Speaking of ships United Asia has AAC that will make your citizens happy.
Not to mention that they double as Resort/Vacation ships.

@exosuit Supplies are imported, tourism and military services provide our income, we don't rely on other countries for our existence. In international waters ships are basically an extension of the country under which they are flagged. A core group of around 20 "rich people" are on board and have you seen the size of the carriers? They are twice the size of a Nimiz class which can take 5000 people.
Granted the country is basically a dictatorship.

I don't think you can set up on an international waters, not to mention that you're also constantly moving from one place to another, not having it's own form of government, let alone a constitution, and the fact that you must 'violate' into other countries simply just to keep you and your citizens well fed, and not being able to produce income for your 'country'
    .
Also how the hell did you even maintain that number of people on two aircraft carriers, which is already inhabited by the 'rich peoples'?
    .
    I'm missing out on something
