I almost had a shark encounter (New Story Time Series)

This is just a new series I’m starting about sharing some interesting things that have happened in my life so far. Hope you enjoy.

It was July 20, 2015, and I was on vacation with my family in a hotel on the beach. I can’t remember exactly where it was, but I know it was somewhere in Alabama. One day, we decided to go down to the beach. I instantly grabbed my snorkel and goggles, being an adventurous kid. Once we got down to the beach, I instantly dove into the water. It was kinda murky, but I could see a good 15 or 20 feet in front of me. After swimming around for some time, I saw something moving along the bottom. As I got closer, I saw what looked like a stingray. However, it didn’t have a stinger on its tail. Instead it had these small spines on its tail that kinda looked like something you would see on a reptile. I then realized I was looking at a skate, which is a close relative of the stingray. I was fascinated, and kept observing it. I kept a fair 3 or 4 feet away from it though because even though it didn’t have a stinger, I knew it probably had some way of defending itself. I watched for a few minutes, when suddenly I felt a sharp stinging pain on my abdomen. I then found myself in a swarm of jellyfish. Instantly, I paddled back to shore. Back on shore, while I was tending to my wounds, I heard someone scream a 5 letter word that no beach goer wants to hear (I think you can guess what it was). I looked around in the water, and then I saw it. The dark shadow of a shark. I couldn’t identify it, but it looked about the size of a bull shark. It was roughly 5 feet long, and it was just patrolling the shore line. While everyone was running out of the water, I decided to do the opposite, and charge into the water. After sounding the battle cry, me, my sister, and my 2 cousins, did a reverse D-Day and charged into the water, but by the time we got into the water, the shark was long gone. However, there was one thing I couldn’t get out of my mind. What if I wasn’t stung by jellyfish? I might have seen that shark in it’s natural habit.

Hope you enjoy. Sorry if it was a bit long. More stories coming soon.

@Nerfenthusiast As a scuba diver, sharks don't really scare me anymore. I also remember a time when I was in Florida and there was this dead baby shark on the beach. I was pretty young at that time, so little ol' me picked it up and tried to put it back in the water.

I’ve seen a shark before granted it was a dogfish shark so there wasn’t much it could do but it’s still a shark @Thelegitpilot13

Centipedes bite. Millipedes usually spray a liquid that can burn your skin if it gets into a cut.@Thelegitpilot13

Damn, that must’ve been scary as hell! But even so, sharks will only bite you if it thinks you’re something more delectable, like a seal. But us humans are far from their palate, as after only a bite they generally let the person go because we’re too fatty to them.
