Operation Eskimo
With 25 hours until launch a pair of Drifter-C transports brought refuelling pods, external fuel tanks and technicians from NovrdLisch to the Deutschland. After 3 hours of work they declared the one thousand year old B-29 Superfortress operational. By this time it was 02:05 in the morning, and at 02:20 the aircraft took off with a mixed Saltwater-Deutschland crew.
.
An hour later, in NovrdLisch, the strike pair of F/A-87s rocketed into the air loaded up with two nuclear bombs, seven air-to-air missiles and two external fuel tanks each. 400 miles from the target they met up with the Superfortress, each taking on a full fuel load.
.
Then, 200 miles from the target, they dropped tanks and flew in at 700 mph at 100 feet. At a range of 60 miles, however, a patrolling fighter was detected. It was quickly dispatched with a single missile from the Filibusters. Then the first F/A-87 pulled up and released its warload of two nuclear bombs on the port and command facilities on the island. The second aircraft flew at 50 feet towards the mouth of the underground submarine pens and dropped its bombs, which skipped across the water into the cave and detonated, causing the mountain to collapse onto the base. Their job done, the two fighter-bombers turned for home, but immediately had to fight off two angry enemy MiG-21s, both of which were rapidly destroyed thanks to the off-boresight missile-firing capability of the F/A-87s.
.
600 miles from home they rejoined their tanker and refuelled. However, as the faster F/A-87s were landing victorious the Superfortress began to struggle. One engine had broken down and the cabin pressure was falling fast. With further faults arising the captain had no choice but to ditch 190 miles from NovrdLisch. All crew were rescued by a friendly Black Hawk helicopter from NovrdLisch three hours later.
.
At 19:45 a Conegsreich Republic destroyer took up station off the Chaos island, finding it in ruins. After sinking two fleeing patrol boats the destroyer was joined by a carrier battle group of the Saltwater Navy, which continues to blockade the island. The Warburg ships USS Atlas and USS Indomitable are also heading into the area with the Saltwater Navy.
.
Allied Losses:
One B-29 Superfortress destroyed.
Three crewmen wounded.
.
Brotherhood of Chaos Losses:
Four submarines destroyed.
Three MiG-21s destroyed.
Major damage to port facilities.
Unknown number dead (estimated at 4,450).
ok although im will using p-51's (they make excellent cas planes when loaded up and modified right )so i shouldn't be saying that @TheFantasticTyphoon
@Nerfenthusiast
It was destroyed in the mission. Engine trouble, you see.
Ok I would not keep using it tbh @CaptainEssen
@Jim1the1Squid
Yes, although still readily accessible.
So, pretty far from me?
@Jim1the1Squid
It's in between Wright Island and Krakabola, east of both of them. The archipelago is east of Madagascar.
In case you didn't know, I'm South Pacific, below Midway.
Where exactly is NovrdLisch on the SLRP map? What region?
Ok, sending over some staff and supplies... Stand by for arrival in 1 RP day.
@Jim1the1Squid
Yes, we will let you use the complex on Desperation Island, half a mile offshore and connected to the main island by a road bridge.
@TheFantasticTyphoon Yes, I continued production by studying the ship and building blueprints for mass-production.
Also, can you add Warburg Aerospace Incorporated to NovrdLisch?
@Jim1the1Squid
Ok, that's fantastic. One thing though: I only ever sold you 25 Vengeance-class aircraft cruisers. I assume this means you built the rest in Warburg.
Ok, I have TF 34 on the way.
TF 34 has 27 carriers, 85 destroyers, 32 subs, and 90 Vengeance-class aircraft cruisers.
@Jim1the1Squid
We'll stave them first, then invade. I have 1800 marines stationed offshore.
@Nerfenthusiast
It was a museum piece I had lying around at the time and we had nothing else available at the moment.
why are you still using the 29?
I vote invade.
@CaptainEssen Ok, we'll prepare some cabins.
@TheFantasticTyphoon
I'll have a ten man team ready for pickup.
@CaptainEssen
Thank you for your contribution. I'll send the aircraft cruiser SWS Endeavour to pick them up on its way to the island.
@MTakach
Ok, we won't let this affect your operations.
@CaptainEssen that would be good.
@MTakach @TheFantasticTyphoon
I can send a small force of Galactic Marines to assist.
@TheFantasticTyphoon nothing much .....1 frigate, but it's escorting a cargo ship to my island.
@MTakach
I thought the same. What forces do you have in the area?
