Grand Canyon
It's the Grand Canyon Folks!
I was thinking "In the beginning we crawl..." with the snapshot of the car emerging from the river. And I found this poem randomly on google. Enjoy!
Born to Die
We are born to face this world
Yet we know about the farthest future.
In the beginning we crawl,
Then we walk till last and at last we fall with a grief gesture.
One day we have to leave this world and go
Yet we are busy for ourselves and do not become selfless server.
We become more and more selfish and do not bow
This is a poem for the humans and not for the regardless reader.

This has been an experiment in learning Unity that I'm sharing with all my SP brethren!
Disclaimer: It has no sides, and the initial spawn point is goofy, better use a seaplane to get aloft! Or use a small boat to go upstream The Colorado river also sort of goes backward! Enjoy!
Can you navigate the entire river?
This is part of larger endeavor to make racetracks on real world topography.
Later Taters!
Upvote if you appreciate, and I welcome everyone's input! Thank you!
Here's a special treat if you made it this far:

(Fast forward to the acoustic bluegrass version if you like!)
((Just giving props to some friends, let me know if it is a No-no! The song writer is a local english teacher. Danke!))
Just keep Mannin' the Riverboat! ;D
Jumped it!
@Cadin thanks

What vehicle is that on the picture post, please tell me
@BaconEggs Hiya, I responded to your other inquiry, but what exactly do you mean by default map scene? (I'm learning as well!) If you want to position runways and such you can align them with the inspector, and if you want them to move with your terrain, just place as a "child" of that terrain
@NathanMikeska Can you tell me how to access the default map scene in unity?
@NathanMikeska Right on, I will check it out. Thank you for your help!
@Thomas243 Hiya, I'm tinkering with a bit of it still, you should be able to just use a floating plane to navigate out. (The sides are still open at the edge.)
Hey i have a problem the spawnpoint is inside the map I tried using a plane to get out but when i pass through the side it explodes can you fix it ?
@Cadin You could run in to some weird issues using 5.1.4 since I think Unity changed their asset bundles a bit going from 5.1 to 5.2. It broke several existing mods.
@Cadin Last time i seen somebody with that issue, it sounded like their build platform was set to the WebPlayer. Try going to Unity's build menu and switch your platform to Windows.
@NathanMikeska Thank you, that is an excellent suggestion! On a related note, I tried to use Unity v5.3.6f1 to build these, but it always failed the initial compiler within less than minute, with a red "player Win (5); not available in this version of Unity." or some such. I've since reverted to 5.1.4f1 and am having good success. Odd, since lots of other folks are having good responses with 5.3.6. Anyway, I figured I should mention it. If you need the exact error text verbatim or a copy of the error log, just let me know.
@Cadin Not sure about querying coordinates but one thing that really helps me to is to create a cube or a sphere as a child object. You can always delete or disable it after the location is positioned. It helps when you can lower the object in the scene view and actually see the point at which it begins to intersect the terrain. From there, it shouldn't be to difficult to position it.
@NathanMikeska Danke! The start location is a bit hard to set in the mod tools, it is mostly the perspective that throws me off. I think it is mostly growing pains of learning Unity. Is there a way to query any coordinate on the terrain, or a place where the coordinates display?
Thank you for your interest and assistance!
@BaconEggs Roger that!
@PilotOfFuture De Nada!
Looks cool, wish I didn't start in the water though... Are the starting locations in the ModTools giving you trouble? Something not working right or anything I can help with?
On any flat land above the canyon.
Thank you so much for andriod version
@BaconEggs Not yet, but I can add them, I've been using my buggy or a choppa/VTOL for testing. Where would you like em?
in a quiet voice are there any airports?
@saturn28 Ain't that the truth!
@SkullsAndCrossbones
Ok, Mr. Grumpy Pants, here you go: ( ;D) Enjoy! Android for you!
@saturn28 Thank you! It is a result of a lot of learning/tweaking and could use a lot more... But now that I have the algorithm down, the maps should look better! And then I can use my time on the fine details...
@Smasher I agree, but there are bushes along the river, I just let them go too high! And the lower rock strata is much more red!
