some context:
me & catbaron are working on an aim54 and shots that are taken further than 40 naut. miles seem to cause a problem in the missile tracking logic. at this point in the phoenix's development i think its now all up to how whatever controls the missile part itself to cause any problem it wants
@WolfSpark i mean yeah ofc a big explosion would make it less fun.. But i mean a relatively sized explosion
Also i like the way how irl missile detonate near targets.. I once saw a missile that is used against tanks in a test fire
It's so cool it detonated right above the tank while probably moving mach+ idk, and realistically a long range missile like this would be pretty expensive and it would suck for the gov if they didn't hit one while on war, so they would probably use a "proxy and detonate" to lower the chances of it not hitting a target
Idk that's a shitty ass situation nvm a damn government that have the power to make such weapons would have infinite budget.

so i did a test with a test missile. an amraam normally couldn't reach this far.
anyhow it did track all the way so it probably something with aero dynamics.
hey nice, I made the same type of missile except mine don't loft, they do however burn, and then when it's out of burn the smoke goes away and the velocity it has carries it. i made one like that, that looks like the aim120 amraam and I got it to track all the way to a target 150 km away about 93 miles, so I don't think it's tracking. it might be because there are parts on the missile that affect it like wings that have physics enabled or parts with mass. maybe look into that, and id like to know how you make it loft if you could tell.
@Random04 @ViSilvester that takes the general fun and realism out of the “Missile”
The missile is suppose to be either A: Impact and detonate or B: get in real nice and close proxy and detonate.
Takes the real satisfaction out of it if it’s just a big explosion with a fuse, it’s just so much more satisfying when it hits perfectly

@Random04 that’s air to ground not air to air...
Not at all similar

I went way off the main topic lmao
Oof nice planes and missile tho :)
@vidzforlyf the tracking seems to deviate a lot at low speed, since the video ive changed up the way it glides and retains speed

your friend sounds like his voice is being played back in reverse
Gotta use that new fuse thingy
could I have the target plane? I just like how it looks lol
A proximity fuse should do the trick XD
XD
Good fun!
So close yet so far...
Nice Phoenix!
It's like where it is aiming is where the plane will be if it flew in a straight line for two minutes.
Acts kinda like the AIM-54A alright. Some issues with tracking after long distances
