One of 3 rocket powered soviet research aircraft designed to test wing designs at mach speeds, this version tested a foward swept wing design, in order to be controllable the LL-3 had water tanks fitted in nose of the aircraft, this was supposed to simulate instrumentation that was later fitted, only 2 of the LL series of aircraft were flown (activator 1 to drop dolley)
