Fully functional autopilot funky trees
Autopilot controls:
1 ALTITUDE HOLD on/off ACTIVATION GROUP 1 altitude adjustment TRIM SLIDER.
2 WING LEVEL HOLD on/off ACTIVATION GROUP 2.
3 HEADING HOLD on/off ACTIVATION GROUP 3 altitude adjustment VTOL SLIDER.
I have created an autopilot using the new .xml modding funky trees input system. You might be asking “Why not just use the built in autopilot that comes with the game?” Well this one can do things that the games autopilot cant, let's just jump in to it with me explaining the 3 modes and what they do an you will see why this is more fun then the games built in autopilot.
Mode 1 ALTITUDE HOLD: Activated by ACTIVATION GROUP 1 it will climb or descend to a given altitude between 50m (164 ft) above sea level and 4000m (13123 ft) above sea level, the altitude is adjusted using the TRIM SLIDER and it is set to 2000m (6561 ft) when the slider is centered, you can change the altitude by moving the slider up or down and the airplane will follow it. When the this mode is off trim will work as normal. There is also an working altimeter in the cockpit (in metric) with a red altitude bug which moves up and as you move the slider. You still have control of the aircraft's roll, but it wont let you roll the aircraft more then 60 degrees to either side.
Mode 2 WING LEVEL HOLD: Activated by ACTIVATION GROUP 2 it will keep the wings leveled with the horizon you can make inputs on the roll axis but it will fight you and return to level flight if you leave the controls centered, you can use that to make small course corrections to the heading. It will control the rudder to counter side slip. This mode is compatible altitude hold mode.
Mode 3 HEADING HOLD: Activated by ACTIVATION GROUP 3 it will hod a compass heading, the heading is adjusted using the VTOL SLIDER center is North half way up is East, half way down is West and all the way up or down is South. There is a working compass in the cockpit that has a red heading bug that will move as you move the VTOL
The autopilot is programmed into the rotators that move the control surfaces the aileron rotators are programmed to deal with roll and heading, the elevator deals with the altitude and the rudder deals with the side slip. I am sure the code will burn the eyes of any programmers that gaze up on it, but hey it works!
I want to thank WNP78 and SnoWFLakE0s for their posts and tutorials about the subject of funky trees inputs system.

@theNoobCountry2withM1911
Did you figure it out?
@theNoobCountry2withM1911
In the rotators that control the rear wings.
@RadarJamJar I need an autopilot capable of using the altitude hold and heading hold, but also capable of functioning properly at 80,000 feet and at 5,000 miles per hour (both conditions at the same time). I need it for a XF-103 Thunderwarrior i'm building right now. You'll also get 10 upvotes as a reward for doing this. Furthermore, I'll also need help with making custom wings and control surfaces for the aircraft I'm making.
Hi! I really like it! Could you please tell me the xml code for the altitude hold? Or link me the rotators please! Also, if you send them over, could I use them in my build? I will credit you.
@Person05 Here is the program I promised Link
@RadarJamJar you could? Thx d a d
@Person05 If the only thing it needs to do is fly at 9m above ground level that is relatively easy, I could wright that for you and you just copy it into your build.
@RadarJamJar yeah I know some of the basics but not really anything past moving a rotator for pitch
@Person05 Cool, so you need help with that? The programing would have to be a little different for low terrain flowing flight.
@RadarJamJar it’s a cruise missle
@Person05 Yes sure, what are you making?
Can I use the code for something I’m making although I’m trying to make a something but I need to change the minimum altitude to something like 9 meters
Very noice.
This is really cool. Wonderful job on this!
Really cool but maybe make the pitch input stronger so you have a "pilots overwrite"
@WNP78 @SnoWFLakE0s I thought you might like this.
