Stanmich Asteroid II
In 1956, Stanmich was interested in the new X-13 tailsitting aircraft, and was to get in on it. The result was the Stanmich Asteroid II, which was a jet powered tailsitter, which managed to see service. The aircraft was painted in a camouflage blue, which kept it from being seen in the Korean War. The aircraft last served in 1988, when the design was no longer used in a reconnaissance setting. The namesake was the Stanmich Asteroid, another unconventional aircraft, a turbojet biplane. this aircraft had dedicated wings, and was a very traditional aircraft design. the aircraft itself was not well known, and was classified until 2009. the aircraft included a pivoting seat (AG2), which allowed pilots to see better outside. it had RCS, which allowed stabilization when hovering or going vertical. it had enough firepower because of a very powerful turbofan engine. AG8 for hover/RCS, AG1 for Afterburner.
