A Paternian attack helicopter designed by Bandit Aerospace Corporation, in response to a need for an attack helicopter. The Paternian Army long recognized the value of armed helicopters. To this end, the MH-2 was developed. While the MH-2 Trojan Horse project was highly successful and was retained when the AH-2 was adopted, it left much to be adopted. It's relatively wide frontal cross section and lack of integrated armor was seen as problematic.

Thus, a requirement for a dedicated attack helicopter was produced. The Bandit Spartan design beat out the KRIEG Vindicator and Dragon Aerospace Scout Hunter in trials; the KRIEG proposal was an all-new aircraft with marginal superiority over the Spartan design without the latter's parts commonality with the existing Trojan and Trojan Horse. Although the Scout Hunter had greater parts commonality with the OH-3 Scout already in service than the Spartan had with the Trojan, the Scout Hunter did nothing to solve the issue of integrated protection.

In service, the AH-2 Spartan proved reliable and potent, and integrated well with the rest of the H-2 family. It proved potent in operations alongside the UH-2 Trojan and MH-2 Trojan Horse; the UH-2 Trojan provided transport, while the AH-2 Spartan provided cover for the transports.

The MH-2 Trojan Horse served as a wild card; it would take part in the initial assault with the UH-2 Trojans, covered by the AH-2 Spartans. The MH-2 Trojan Horse, after deploying its troops, would take over from the AH-2 Spartans once they have expended their munitions.
