Halberd-Class SPA
The Halberd is a Self Propelled Artillery vehicle and a platform to prove the concept of the mantlet loader.
The Halberd carries an armament of 3 350 mm howitzers mounted on the front, Tank Destroyer style. And has twin 50 mm auto cannons to act as self defence. It is quite fast as well, easily reaching 200 km/h in a few seconds, however it will flip if you try to turn it at high speeds. Its combat speed is 50 km/h, any higher and you risk flipping it. While the design does help keep it from flipping, it still can be flipped if you turned at high speed. Worst case scenario, you'll be at your side and you'll have to use the 50 mm guns to unflip yourself. There is a chance that the gun could be damaged as well. The Mantlet loader is an autoloader that uses hydraulic arms to load in the shell. (Unseen in this, because i cannot be bothered to model them. Just imagine robot arms.) Its usually hidden in a compartment below the gun, and will pop out to load the gun after firing automatically, or when the order is given during a combat situation. They are rather fragile after all.
The Halberd entered service 2 years after the Great Rebellion, and first fired its guns on an enemy during the Missile Conflict. The Halberd is said to be the most traditional military vehicle used during this conflict, seeing that the other military vehicles used by the Empire are all advanced or experimental technology.
Most commonly found in higher grounds, thanks to their high mobility, and hard to pierce thanks to their rather thick armour.
(1 is the big guns and 2 is the smaller guns and turret. Maybe its the other way around, i don't remember. Been having more fun with another ground vehicle i have made. You'll see that one soon.)
