The F-84 first flew in 1946, although it was entering service in 1947, it had many engine issues, by 1948, it was declared unoperational by the USAF, and wouldn't reach "Operational Status" until 1949, with the updated F-84D model. Soon after the faster and better maintained F-84G entered service in 1951, in 1954, the straight winged F-84 joined the Swept wing family with the RF-84F Thunderflash Photo Reconnaissance Aircraft.
