ESJ XF-8 Guard Dog was a proposal made from ESJ CORP. to the USAF comand for an easy to produce and maintain interceptor (Scenario 1) on a secret contest for such a plane in case the Cold War heats up.

Thanks to the oportunity given by the goverment and the information resived from the spy agences and the reverse ingeeniring of some soviet planes the ESJ CORP decided to use that knowledge against its creators. Due that the Guard Dog has a mix of soviet an american caracteristics but this didn't like it to the head comand of the USAF because that could produce friendly fire icidents. finaly the projet was canceled but several test concept aircraft's were produce to tune production models and as concept and tecnology demostrators.
