North American X-15 by SR

So you want to go to outer space?

Maybe space starts at 100kms (62.1m) or perhaps its 50 miles (80kms), whichever one you choose, this baby will get you there…

Be warned, this is 1960s technology though.

Activation 1 to turn on main engines.
Be careful at takeoff, maybe 2% power.
She will fly at over 4500 mph and reach the edges of space (67 miles / 354,000 ft / 108 kms).

When going past 100,000 ft, take care, the control surfaces tend to no longer work, and RCNs take-over (small adjustments).

Past 350,000ft things becomes unpredictable - be warned.
If things aren’t going so well then hit Activation 2 for the ejection seat.

A good read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_X-15

Changes from the orginal include rear wheels (not skids) as this takes off from the runway. Also some small stablizers on the main wings. And lots of fuel!

(Alternatively, if you need to get somewhere really quick, then take this baby... good handling at low altitude).

Enjoy

I used this t set a space location and then launched my F4u Corsair. It broke up from airspeed. I never thought space would be so weird and trippy. Physics engine dies...

TERREFIC PLANE OMG!!! But not historically accurate. You see, the actual one would eject the lower fin for landing. Please add in this feature or I may stop using it.

Thanks @SpiritusRaptor . The one thing is I wanted to make one without modding that doesn't jam. I might try it with one engine first and then just go from there.

@Wildblueyonder578 Interesting... you need to be gentle on the turns above 100K...

@SpiritusRaptor When I went up to 200,000 feet,I decided I was high enough so when I pitched down,The aircraft Did a unexpected High Negative G Turn and then went into a unrecoverable Flat spin, but I was so high that the aircraft continued to increase altitude so there was no way I could come back down.

@SpiritusRaptor So that's why the thing had major buffeting then exploded at around 24,000 feet.

Check out my last Russian jet, it has teo man engines, and each are attached to 3 rotators which edfecitively gives you the three axis... If you pull the key apart carefully you should be able to use these... @Meawk
