Hawk Attack
A dedicated close-air support variant of the Hawk. Perhaps the machine which doomed General Armstrong Victor's career. Designed to replace the Pummeler Attack, it received opposition from Army High Command from the beginning. Army High Command did not like its long take-off roll, poor rough-field performance and its over-reliance on missiles and rockets.
In tests, pilots found themselves unable to acquire ground targets effectively due to the aircraft's speed and long nose. In addition, the Pummeler could carry a similar warload and was more accurate and could acquire targets faster while taking more damage. The project was cancelled and the prototypes were converted back into Hawk Fighters. One of them, F-08031, was converted back into this configuration for display.
