This is a new version of my previous helicopter designs that I am prototyping.

Start-Up: Bring the throttle to 100% and activate the number one activator to engage the engine and spool up the rotor system. After maximum rotor RPM is achieved, raise the collective (VTOL slider DOWN) and slowly bring the helicopter off the ground. Give it forward pitch to gain airspeed.

NOTE: Two things you'll notice is that it is balanced out a little tail heavy. This helps with cruise stability and assists slowing during approach. The next thing you will notice is that the tail elevator wings rotate as you increase collective. This helps trim the A/C out in cruise flight and allows the pilot to decrease the use of RCN's.

Features:
- This helicopter boats a coaxial blade head with high inertia for rotor RPM maintainability during engine out scenarios. The blades are the only airfoil surface giving this helicopter lift. The VTOL nozzles are mounted on the rotators of the blades and thus will not give the any lift as the pitch is changed. They only serve to maintain rotor RPM.

-The fuel range has been greatly improved without having to fill the rotor blades with fuel and thus decreasing performance.

-Fuel consumption has been cut down greatly through the use of control surfaces on the airfoils as well as a pitch trim system tied to the collective. This decreases control input for pitch at speeds above 70MPH and will allow the pilot to shut down RCN's above 75MPH and allow the control surfaces to maintain attitude control.

-Retractable landing gear for streamline performance.

-Auto rotation capabilities above 300FT AGL and above 40MPH. 0/0 landings and run-on landing are possible with no damage to air frame.

Characteristics:

-Cruise Speed: 75-80MPH
-Climb Speed: 35-45MPH
-Climb Rate: 300-500FPS
-Fuel Range: I don't have a confirmed number, but I have been able to take off from the south landing strip and land on either the carrier or the island runway with plenty of fuel left over. I have not tried to circumnavigate the island, though. Give it a shot and see how far you can get.

CAUTION:
- If you run the tanks empty on this heli you will lose aircraft control below 75MPH due to it's use of RCN's. Be mindful of your fuel reserves.
- Maximum collective will cause the helicopter to roll into an unrecoverable attitude. If this occurs at low altitude, then this can be deadly. Bringing down the VTOL slider past the #2 indent is where this risk begins.

A bit slow in handling but stable. I really like the trim feature though I might have to steal it. And 6 stars for the very comprehensive description.
