Hq-9 is the first domestically produced third-generation hQ-22 and HQ-12A medium-high altitude long-range air defense missiles, which were displayed in the parade together, forming an intergenerational, effectively connected, complementary and enhanced air defense firepower system. The HQ-9 made its first public appearance in 2009 during a military parade marking the 60th anniversary of the founding of new China. Ten years later, its improved hQ-9B surface-to-air missile and Sea HQ-9B ship-to-air missile were again displayed in public.
