Description

Mainly used for smuggling goods to and from backwater planets, this fast fighter was build to outrun any rival smuggler or law enforcement ship. The Beta Program for the S-24 began on June 23rd, 2053 and the Alpha version was released on December 29th, 2053. The S-24 is equipped with an engine modded for maximum speed while still maintaining most of its maneuverability. This ship is a favorite of smugglers due to its high speed, heavy red laser cannons, ability to take off and land quickly, and its seemingly infinite supply of countermeasures.

Successes

April 24th, 2054:

An S-24 was delivering a sensitive package to an anonymous client. While en route, the S-24 was intercepted by a group of mercenaries assigned with destroying the courier along with the package. Luckily, the courier was able to counter the attack and destroy the mercenaries by making a quick loop around an asteroid with his enemies following him. Due to the courier’s superior engines, he was able to loop back behind them and destroy them with his laser cannons.

December 11th, 2055:

A group of S-24s were being used to escort a government official through hostile space to engage in peace negotiations. This turned out to be a trap to assassinate the negotiator. A battleship along with a full squadron of fighters warped into the sector and prepared an attack charge. Since the negotiator had no weapons or countermeasures on his luxury ship, he was forced to eject himself in an escape pod. One of the S-24s was able to magnetize the pod to the bottom of his ship and the escort was able to outrun their attackers with their superior engines unscathed. War was declared on the attackers.

Failure

July 14th, 2053

During the Beta Program for the S-24, when the ship had relatively low maneuverability, a group of S-24s was attacked by a band of pirates who had gotten their hands on some high-quality interceptors with high maneuvering abilities. The S-24’s high speed was no match for the agility and speed of the pirates’ interceptors. The S-24s were shot down and the pilots were alll killed except for one who was able to escape by smashing his cockpit window and jumping out in his spacesuit and was able to signal for help. He was picked up a day later, tired and hungry.
