The Schutzenpanzerwagen (armored tank car) is a half-track design capable of Transporting specialized grenadier troops into battle with speeds fast enough to accompany the main tanks. The accompanying grenadiers are thus able to keep up and provide infantry support to the tanks from enemy ground units, with the half-tracks able to provide support for said grenadiers as well. This allows for a main fighting force to move incredibly quickly without the need to hold up for infantry units which might take hours to arrive.

The Half-tracks are able to carry up to 14 grenadier soldiers plus 1 driver and 1 gunner in its open top hold. Its sides and belly are armored to shield the troops from small arms fire, artillery blasts, and landmines, giving the troops a greater chance of survival compared to trucks which are unarmored and slow.
As it is primarily a troop transport, the Halftrack only has 1 7.8mm MG in the front for defensive measures, however, it can also be used sometimes to provide additional suppressive fire to support troop movements as well. Its rear facing ramp allows troops to dismount from the rear while the machinegun and armor protects them from enemy fire.
