Malen'kiy D'yavol (Little Devil)
Built in haste during the interval between the end of the second world war and the development of reliable surface to air missiles. The USSR built this bomber hunting sytem utilizing advanced Nazi technologies such as the ME 163 Komet and the V2. Able to launch from virtually anywhere this two stage system was designed to boost a small kill vehicle to the altitude of American nuclear bombers in seconds and destroy them with guns and rotary cannons. The first stage was supposed to be at least partially reusable but that rarely worked out. Many pilots would use the parachuting booster to test their guns after separation, if they survived that long. Retract the landing gear and VTOL down to erect the launcher. Once vertical, select AG 1 and give it full power. Once it clears the ground move the VTOL to center to retract the legs. Keep the climb angle between 60 and 90 degrees. Once the desired altitude is reached throttle to zero and turn off AG1 and select AG2 (AG1 shuts down the booster controls. AG2 separates the stages, and activate the plane controls.) Then give it full power and go bomber hunting.
