The year is 1980 and U-2s are falling out of fashion.
The U-5 Drifting Eye was produced as a result of the 1961 HARS (High Altitude Reconnaissance System) program intended to produce a more reliable, hardy, lighter and capable aircraft to deter Soviet counter-reconnaissance. Unfortunately evolving satellite missions caused the U-5 to become redundant. In the modern day, it is used as a research vehicle for various space agencies across the globe.
