[CLOSED] Electronic Warfare and Battlefield Awareness Program (AWACS Challenge)

Auto Credit Based on CallsignGizmo's AWACS Challenge Test 2

Electronic Warfare and Battlefield Awareness Program

The Patriotic Democracy of Frostholm’s first aircraft design competition.

Instructions:

Design and build a prototype for an Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft with Electronic Warfare capabilities.

Requirements:

Aircraft:
Maximum ferry range: 200 Nautical Miles or more
Maximum loitering time: Six or more hours without refueling
Cruise airspeed: 200 Indicated Knots or more
Maximum service altitude: 2500 feet or more
Aerial refueling type: Probe and Drogue method
Part count: 10-600 parts
Avionics:
Radar Range: 200 Nautical Miles or more (at altitude)
Electronic Warfare capability: Electronic Support or Electronic Attack

Other Rules:

You are allowed to use previous airframes to fit out with AWACs and EW capabilities.
You are not allowed to use other people’s builds.
I would appreciate an aircraft corporation name, but it is not strictly necessary.
Replica builds are allowed, but fictional designs would be preferred.
Making your build a successor would be nice, but I know the feeling of forgetting to. It is not required.
Please tell me in the comments if you are entering.
The only aircraft requirement I will really be testing is its cruise speed. There’s no chance I’ll be testing how long and far it can fly.

Deadline: July 16th, 2024 (if it’s a few days late that’s okay)

I will choose two aircraft, which will then be narrowed down to one winner (kinda like real aircraft design competitions)

Rating:
Looks: —/10
Flight Characteristics: —/10
Cockpit: —/10 (Optional, but will give you extra points)
Realism: —/10 (How realistically it flies/accuracy to replica)
Lore: -/5
Extra: —/10 (Subjective)

Rewards:

I have no idea what a good amount would be…

First Place: 15 Upvotes and a Spotlight (to desired aircraft) if possible?
Second Place: 10 Upvotes
Third Place: 5 Upvotes maybe? Tell me if these should be more or less

Examples of Real Aircraft:
(Fictional builds are encouraged)

Sorry, guys, I've been putting off the announcement of the winners. I've just lost motivation for this and it went to making music. The announcement will be soon... probably

236 downloads? People must be mistaking this for an E-2 build

I have not set a minimum/maximum part count, but the more detail the better!

This blew up overnight, thanks guys! It may only have 13 upvotes but that’s (sadly) a new record for me!
Not even my third most downloaded post, but 72 downloads in under twelve hours isn’t that bad in my opinion.

Does anyone have the contact info of any of the politicians of Frostholm? My plane is objectively worse so I need to pull a Lockheed.

You can tell @ Seeras to make it a successor of this. Btw you can go [text](link) to create a link like this.

@CallsignGizmo I don’t know why it didn’t make it a successor since I downloaded and made it from that, but here is the link: https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/x62858/Icarus-Air-Co-EWR-3-Peregrine
If anyone knows a way to make it a successor that’ll be great

    I like the challenge!

@SchadeAircaftCompany I did see that, I was going to try to replicate something similar but it ruins the flow of my design so I decided to use an E-3 Sentry fuel port with opening/closing doors.

@CallsignGizmo well the current models don’t have one, the E-2 hasn’t had IFR capabilities since it was originally produced, that model is more of a proof of concept if it is feasible

Reminds me of a mohawk. Where is the refueling probe now?

  • Profile image

@MartinByrde @CallsignGizmo should look at the E-2 Hawkeye with fueling probe prototype, looks like a flying narwhal
