Origins

It’s Late 1952, The Cold War Has broken out for years by now... With the threat of bomber like the TU-95 ’Bear’ The American needs a good Interceptor to take down the threatening bomber....

Despite being one of the Strongest country, USA is lacking of Interceptor

The answer is the P-5 Trencher , A cheap , fast Interceptor to get the job done...

The P-5 is Fast, Cheap to Operate , Easy Controls... Looks promising eh? no...
The USAF was not really concern of the P-5 Trencher but they decide to buy 15 of them.

Only in 2 Months the USAF already lost 7 of the P-5, This is where the P-5 saw its downfall.
The P-5 is fast, cheap , and easy for new pilot.
But its Advantage can’t cover their Deadly Flaw that can easily make the P-5 in the real ‘Trench’

The P-5 Control was stubby, they can’t make sudden manuver, 75% of the P-5 built have Hydraulics Problem, And in most case the gun is their ’kamikaze’ weapon... The gun was built near the wing that makes projectile hit the front Fuselage.

The control is unrealiable, if you make a sudden manuver... Theres only 2 things you can do :

• 1. Eject
• 1. Pray...

The Deadly Flaw makes the USAF upset of the P-5 and scrap the remaining 8 ’P-5 Trencher’ from the Fleet

Even it was a failure, It inspires many succesful Interceptor like the F-106 , F-104 and more...
