History: The Vargus Engineering V-2A Falcon was designed in 2001 by the (former) Lieutenant Roger Vargus to compete in air races, stunt shows, and for private use. It sat two in a tandem-style seating arrangement under a bubble-style canopy. It was fitted with a 1,000hp (746kW) Vargus V288-2/34A engine. It had excellent climb and roll rates. It was also the first Vargus aircraft to feature retractable landing gear, folding wings, and seat two (a pilot and a passenger). Vargus Engineering manufactured three versions of the Falcon: the V-2A, the V-2P (for private ownership), and the V-2M (for military training). Around 300 of the aircraft were manufactured with a sale price (for the V-2A) of $26,000. The Falcon suffered no accidents and is still used in some military training schools or by private owners, occasionally taking part in air shows. But, it was eventually outclassed by other aircraft and was mostly retired and pulled from events in 2011.
