Auto Credit Based on SledDriver's Level Flight Challenge [closed]
My first creation - the Flare X-1. This is my entry for the level flying challenge. Seems to work well under my own testing, but I have no idea how it will react to autopilot as I don't have that option on mobile. Good luck to all entrants!

@JoeCFX Take your time.
@SledDriver That's a great idea, hadn't thought of that! Thanks a bunch :) still got a little tuning to do before uploading though!
@JoeCFX Here's what I would do: leave the current cockpit where it is so the mass distribution doesn't change, then add a second zero-mass cockpit, make it the primary cockpit, scale it down and hide it inside the nose spike.
@SledDriver Ahhhhh good point, completely forgot I could scale it down! Silly me. I'll do that then - thanks! The cockpit I began with had standard mass so I will have to do some minor tweaks to weight distribution if using one with no mass. Should be able to have the second version uploaded soon - most likely within the next 24 hours :)
@JoeCFX Sure, I can take a look. Remember that any and all XML modding is permitted, so you can set the cockpit mass to zero so that it doesn't affect mass distribution.
The best way to have a totally unobstructed view is to stick the cockpit inside the very first nose cone block on your build. If it doesn't fit, you can simply scale it down until it does.
@SledDriver Hey again, quick question about the cockpit. I presume it needs to be perfectly level in terms of rotation? its a little awkward to work with given the nose of my aircraft. Would it be best to see more above, or below the crosshair? my current version has a little bit of fuselage blocking the view from just below the crosshair, and I'm struggling thinking about how and where to move it without it drastically affecting weight distribution.
If I uploaded it as unlisted and provided the URL, do you think you could have a quick look in cockpit view, and see if too much is obscured?
@SledDriver Will do, thanks for the advice. I might keep her back for a week or so then, just to completely fine tune her. :)
@JoeCFX Sure, take your time, the deadline is over two weeks away.
@SledDriver I see, thanks a bunch. I'll run a couple more tests before uploading!
@JoeCFX No, there's no way to update an upload. You'll just have to create another one. You can delete this one or not, that's entirely up to you. Don't worry about cluttering up my view, If someone has multiple entries I'll ask them to pick one as their final entry.
@SledDriver I appreciate the comment, thank you. That video helps a huge bunch too, wasn't too sure how it'd work. I've redesigned the plane very slightly, since you said mods are permitted I have used a fuel tank with no weight so distribution is a little easier, and a couple cosmetic modifications :p
I'm very new to this though, is there a way I can update this upload? Or would I need to submit a new successor? Just don't wanna fill your successor list with my planes.
@JoeCFX I'm flying all entries the regular way, and to aim them, I use cockpit view, and try to place the crosshair exactly on the destroyer. Here's a video showing the testing procedure with one of my aircraft.
@SledDriver Awesome, thanks a bunch! Forgot to ask about the cockpit - wasn't sure how you were aiming it, wondered if you were physically pointing it at the destroyer or using the green square on air-land mode. i'll try moving it now. :)
This does very well, informal tests show that the delta-h is about 200 feet. The only problem with this build is that the crosshair is obscured by a fuselage block in front of it, meaning I can't actually use it to aim the aircraft. If you could just move the cockpit up or forward so it has an unobstructed view, this would be the new top contender. Nice work.
