Sturmgewehr 44 (StG 44)
Sorry for reuploading it. I did it because only after uploading for the first time I saw that it was missing two small details :)
The StG 44 (Sturmgewehr - assault rifle) was the first mass-produced assault rifle ever.
Designed by Germany and fielded in 1943, it was essentially an all-in-one gun. It was more powerful than a submachine gun while having the accuracy of a standard rifle. It also benefited from selective fire.
About 426.000 StG 44s and its modifications were produced until the end of the war. It proved itself as a highly effective gun. Among soldiers, it quickly became their favorite choice. It ditched both the bolt-action rifles and submachine guns. Ammunition, however, wasn't available in large numbers - part of the reason why it was a rare sight on the battlefield.
Its distinctive design would go on and influence much of the post-war assault rifle development.
Lots of time and effort were put into building this. I wanted to make it as detailed as possible. It's still missing a few bolts here and there but overall the amount of details is simply amazing. And yes, this was the 'small' build (actually took a lot to build).
