Users: Soviet Navy
Built: 1957–1963
In commission: 1959–1990
With the United States Navy entering the Nuclear age with the USS Nautilus, the Soviet Union would soon follow as they developed their own design for a nuclear submarine. But while the United States emphasised safety and thus averted disaster, the Soviet Union learned its lessons the hard way. While the November class submarines were functional, they were not entirely reliable, ultimately teaching the Soviet Navy several lessons the hard way.
